Humble Beginnings in Shaw 🔥
Smokestaq Lightning first opened as a small BBQ shop in the Shaw neighborhood of St. Louis. The goal was simple—serve real Southern barbecue made the right way. Built from scratch by a local family, the restaurant started with just a smoker, a few classic recipes, and a deep love for slow-cooked meat. What began in a tiny storefront quickly grew into a local spot for serious BBQ lovers.
A New Chapter at Laclede’s Landing
After years of building a strong following, Smokestaq Lightning moved to 724 N 1st St in the historic Laclede’s Landing. The new location brings more space, river views, and room to grow—while still offering the same food people know and trust. This move marks a new chapter, but the heart of the restaurant stays the same: real barbecue, served with respect for the tradition behind it.
